I work at a Title I school, where over half of the student population receives free or reduced-price lunch. Our students are a diverse group. My students are sweet and caring, that is one of the reasons I have worked at my school for 12 years now. They truly want to learn and I see great things in their futures. This year I would like to build a sense of community and family feel within in my classroom. I think a new rug will help build that community.
Students will be able to use the rug throughout the day. It will help instill the sense of community that we are striving to create within our classroom this year. I've always loved the family feel that my school has and want my students to have the same feeling when they go to school. Students will be able to use it during various subjects as they work independently or in small groups, especially during daily 5 rotations. They will also be able to read independently and with a partner. The rug will be used for many years in my classroom and will allow us to create that home feeling in our classroom.
