Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are 3rd grade students ranging from ages 8 to 10 years old. A third grade classroom at my school is usually 20 to 27 students. Third grade is exciting because students are just as excited about learning as I am teaching. This is the year that learning changes in a big way for students. Students are beginning to see the true value of learning. I am excited to be a part of and to guide them on their journey.

My Project

My goal for this school year is to utilize more collaborative learning in my classroom. I love collaborative learning because students are helping and learning from each other as well as the teacher. By working at tables students will be able to collaborate easily. Tables will also help with organization which is important in a classroom. Working at tables will also build a sense of community. Having a good community will increase students' engagement and success in the classroom. Students benefit more when they can learn from their peers as well as their teacher. I am excited to see how my new community grows.
