My students need current, popular books for literature circles! Literature circles are a great way to build communities of readers and lovers of books!

My Students

I currently serve as a fourth grade teacher in a title one school.

I am excited to be back in the homeroom setting this year learning alongside my students.

Fourth grade is a HUGE year for increasing their reading skills and strategies as we go from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." We read a picture book a day as we learn new skills as well as read chapter books during read aloud. One of my favorite quotes is "students learn to love books at the feet of their teachers," and this project will allow for students to develop a love of reading as we enjoy these books together!

As a lover of literature myself, I can't wait to share these books with my students as part of our daily read alouds and small group literature circles.

My Project

I have asked for three copies of five current popular books in a variety of fiction genres. These books will be used in literature circles to allow my students the opportunity to read great stories with a community of their peers.

It is important to me that my students become lovers of literature and I know your donation will help by providing my students with access to great stories!

In our classroom we believe "everyone is a teacher and everyone is a learner." Literature circles allow students the opportunity to collaborate about a shared text while they learn from and teach one another.
