I am very fortunate to teach in a large, suburban, public school district located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I work in a school with a diverse population which makes teaching fun and exciting! My students are my pride and joy. Each day is a new beginning for them in a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment. My students and I build an exceptional rapport with one another, and they take pride in everything they do. It takes a village to become a comprehensive classroom such as this, but every moment is worth the team effort from everyone! I couldn't do it without them!

I love their vibrant energy, smiles on their faces, and their willingness to learn and to never give up! Creating an environment where it's okay to "make a mistake" is a classroom that sets high expectations and never gives up on the students!

My Project
We are requesting carpet where students can talk and work in comfort. I have a diverse learning environment in which I work in. A lot of my students learn in many different, creative ways. In order for my students to excel and exceed their expectations in second grade, I want my students to be able to interact with one another as a learning community. This is especially true during whole group instruction as well as small group instruction.
A comfortable, community conversation rug will help me to teach more effectively while engaging with my students in conversations and group discussions.
Discussions and community interaction will be implemented every day during morning meeting, daily expectations and objectives, and for intensive instruction during small group time.
Several transitions occur throughout the day in the life of a second grader. Having the community carpet will allow for more flexibility throughout the classroom especially when you have a smaller sized classroom.
Building a community of learners is an essential part of second grade!
