Building a Classroom Library is Becoming a Reality
Help me give my students bookshelves to keep our growing library and a few choice titles to appeal to my middle school students and high school students for free voluntary reading.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am very fortunate to work with so many talented, inquisitive students in grades 6-10. I teach a combined class of very bright and talented sixth and seventh graders. I have the distinct pleasure of watching these kids grow in their academic journey as they begin middle school and flourish as graduates. I also work with creative, mature, and very capable eighth, ninth, and tenth graders who are excited to learn an additional language, and I want to grow my students' love of language learning and reading in Spanish.
Students come to our school for the arts-integrated curriculum that we offer.
Their talents and interests include dance, orchestra, visual arts, photography, piano, guitar, band, and theater. It is my goal to broaden their horizons to expose them to the artistic influences of the Spanish-speaking world.
My Project
This year we began our quest to have a classroom library that would have meaningful and engaging reading materials for all of my students. This includes 6th graders to 11th graders. We have language natives, advanced students, and novice readers and they all want to learn more.
A book can take you on a journey outside of the classroom, beyond yourself, and to infinite places.
I want my students to experience the world through the lens of the World Language that they are learning by reading what interests them. Students grow motivation and skills by reading for enjoyment. Throughout the year, we have been growing our library one grant at a time. Now it is time to have put a system in place for housing our reading materials and taking care of the books you have so generously provided.
