My students need a vast array of books in our classroom library. The majority of them come from homes without any literacy enrichment. I want all of my students to see themselves in books!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are my family! They are loving, energetic, and eager to learn. My goal is to create a safe space with structure and routine, since most of my students come from homes that lack these crucial aspects. I work in a school where over 90% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. This reflects some of the harsh realities that my students go home to everyday.
Therefore, it is my ultimate goal to help my students fall in love with learning and wake up excited to come to our classroom each morning!
For them, school needs to represent safety, love, opportunity, and a place full of adults who will never leave them behind.
My Project
A library is the heart of a classroom. With these books, I will be able to supply my students with the tools they need to become independent readers. For many of my students, they don't have an opportunity to develop these skills at home; therefore, it is crucial that I supply enough material to fit their needs.
By donating to our project, you will help create an extensive selection of reading material in our classroom, that will facilitate a love for reading in all students.
I have picked out a variety of titles that I feel will best fit the needs of my first graders all year long.
