This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five- and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
Kindergarten is hard. It is very hard to learn such things as holding a pencil, writing your name and using scissors. Focusing on these skills while building with blocks, linking fish builders or using tongs to sort soft blocks will make mastery a game. Strong fine motor skills are needed for so many things. While we play with magnetic boards and snap together letters, we can improve this basic area of development. Most adults do not realize that using tongs, which we will do for fun will improve our muscle control for scissors. Our fun today will make so much of tomorrow easier.
