My students need two iPads with docking stations to use in the classroom to enhance their learning beyond the classroom walls.
"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world." - David Warlick
My third grade students crave new knowledge and are instantly engaged the moment technology is involved.
Just as David Warlick mentions in the quote above, technology is the pen and paper of these students' time. Teachers today cannot teach the way they may have been taught in the past. Teachers must constantly search for new ways to keep lessons fresh and relevant to today's culture.
By incorporating iPads in the classroom, my students will be given powerful tools to explore the world right at their fingertips. The number of programs and apps available to use on the iPad are innumerous and will greatly empower my students to think beyond their textbooks and classroom walls. These iPads will serve as both learning and communication tools; and they will also surely be a great way to motivate and elicit positive behavior choices.
Incorporating technology for 21st century teaching is crucial to all students.
With the upcoming California Common Core standards, students will be expected to demonstrate their learning in new ways. These iPads will allow me, as their teacher, to integrate technology seamlessly into the classroom and keep my students' learning current and fresh. Please consider helping me fund this project for my students.
