Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with a group of happy, active and curious students. Who don’t know or don’t understand that they belong to a title one school or low income families.
My students love to learn, communicate with each other and hands on activities.
Now with the new stay at home mandate due to the Coronavirus pandemic, my students are experiencing loneliness and anxiety . On one hand they know they must stay at home but still they want to go to school and do their classwork with their teacher and not their parents. The meetings that we have through Zoom are not enough. They are happy to see their friends and have some time together but parents are telling me that now more than before students are expressing their frustration on not having the time to socialize and work on art group projects.
My Project
The materials I have selected for my students are to question and answer how machines function. Both projects involve physical movement is small spaces and following directions. We will study how air and pressure move objects, an intro to aerodynamics . Also the importance of following directions in order to accomplish an accurate model.
My hope is that both activities will inspire and awaken their curiosity and desire to learn more about how things work in our world.
Making our learning interesting fun and active. My students will love them.
