Builders Needed! Fine Motor Skill Building Supplies Preferred
My students need the Room Divider & Partition to help them keep their focus while learning; they'll love hands-on, fun activities to keep their attention while learning & increasing their fine motor skills.
My students are in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades and all have severe cognitive impairments. Most of my students are completely non-verbal and need full assistance with all life skills.
Despite their challenges, my students are my inspiration!
They want to learn and work hard to become more independent and increase their participation in classwork and activities.
It is up to me to enhance their educational experience and infuse the learning with creative, strategic options. I want to offer students an enrichment opportunity that will take their learning beyond the textbook and standard curriculum and allow them to explore, to inquire, to engage. Since their abilities are not that of a typical elementary age student, my teaching strategies and activities need to be as unique and amazing as they are!
My Project
My students are developing the small muscles in their hands so they can learn to write with a pencil or a pen. Since they all have a severe cognitive impairment, this process is quite lengthy and maintaining their attention can be difficult. The Room Divider & Partition will be a fantastic tool for those students whose attention extremely limited. We run learning centers and I will be able to use the partition to separate the groups from each others line of vision. This will be a tremendous help for them to maintain their already limited focus.
Using the items requested will help them maintain their focus, help their hand muscles get stronger and stronger and let them HAVE FUN while doing it!
The Spinning Gear Magnets and Grippies Builders will attract their attention and them putting them together and spinning them will help build the muscles in their hands. Since they cannot hold pencils (yet) they use Bingo Daubers to mark their answers on classwork that we complete. They are an awesome tool to accommodate their learning.
It is easy to take for granted writing your name, dialing a phone, zipping your coat, or typing an email. These everyday tasks are very difficult for my students and it is my mission to help them develop and grow so that can become as independent as possible.
