Bamigboye Olurotimi-"Children these days are very intelligent and brilliant, and they are enthusiastic in nature. We need to grow their knowledge, understanding, and curiosity using STEM education." My students are creative, curious, and enthusiastic about learning. They beam over opportunities to engage in hands-on tasks that challenge their thinking and promote collaborative interactions. Despite coming from low-income families where many live in poverty and are coping with a pandemic, they come to school every day willing to brave opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Building knowledge by providing students with creative ways to show their understanding during reading lessons is the goal of using Legos to "Build to Express in Literacy." The use of Legos will help my students to demonstrate an understanding of what they are reading in a creative hands-on way.
My students are noticeable more engaged in learning when they have opportunities to express their understanding of learning through various tactile modalities.
The "Build to Express" Legos kits will promote equity among my students as every student can build to express their thinking even before they can find their words.
