Help me give my students the opportunity to go on a field trip to the Museum of the Moving Image!

I am a teacher in a high-needs district with students who are excited to learn and be in school. My class is a special needs class (12:1:1) consisting of students with speech language impairments, autism, emotional disturbance, and learning disabilities. Regardless of disability, the teaching assistant and I maintain high expectations and constantly try to help build their prior knowledge and ability levels.
Children learn best when they have the life experiences to help them make connections to the content they are learning in class.
The teaching assistant and I enjoy taking our class on field trips as much as possible. We also try to bring the world to them through various online outlets. The students love working with tablets and on computers, as they are often able to work at their own ability levels and be more engaged.
Many texts can be challenging for students to relate to because they have never had the privilege of being exposed to the topic or content. In order to help students better understand an ELA unit with a text on movie making, our grade level will be visiting the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. Students will participate in a Behind the Scenes Tour and complete a Moving Pictures workshop.
By donating to this project, you will make it possible for students to have better access to the curriculum and be excited about learning!
This will give students personal experiences on the topic in a fun and hands-on way.
