Help me give my students STEM activities such as magnet and suction cup building sets, bristle blocks, gears, and playground design to help build their brains!
My students are first graders. We are in a Title I school where money is tight. Teachers often have to supply the needed learning materials.
My students love to learn, but they often are not very confident students, so I strive to provide them with lots and lots of hands-on materials to make reading and math accessible to them.
It's a joy for them to have that light-bulb moment when they discover that they can do something that once felt difficult.

My Project
These STEM building activities will be part of our "brain bins", which are used every morning in our classroom. The brain bins help to build students' interpersonal skills, problem solving, science and engineering reasoning, and dexterity.
Students will not only benefit from these materials by learning science, design, and engineering principles; but will also work in groups to strengthen their ability to work and problem solve as part of a team.
These interpersonal skills are so crucial for their futures and must be practiced regularly. Students need to be able to solve problems independently in order to succeed! Help me to help my students become stronger problem solvers.
