Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, but this is also in part to the fact that our classroom does not yet have a classroom library filled with inspiring books.
Adventurous and curious about the world, I have a group of students that are fascinated learning about the world and stories of others.
They are voracious readers and love being challenged. Specifically, they are becoming more and more fascinated by reading award winning books and chapter book series.
The school my students attend is a Title 1 school. A large majority of our students are English Language Learners and students who do not typically have a library available to them at home.
My Project
By providing these high-quality books to build my classroom library, it will ultimately allow my students the opportunity to develop themselves as readers, but also discover a passion for reading and a curiosity about the world and all the stories in it!
This project is so important to me because as a primary reading teacher, being able to provide quality literature that I love is really the only way in which my students will develop a lifelong passion to learn and continue their own quest for knowledge and adventure well-beyond my classroom.
