They enjoy hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box and use problem solving skills. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My Project
Books, books, books! Can you ever have enough books?
My goal for my first year teaching first grade is to implement a growth mindset lesson each week to talk about being kind, respectful, mindful, aware, genuine, well-rounded, responsible, passionate, dedicated, and much more.
By doing this, I hope to teach the students that these characteristics will help them succeed. I am also interested in getting a classroom map to help explore the world. I like to reference the map when talking about various things like vacations, history, distance, time, etc. I will use the art tempera brushes and cardstock to incorporate art into our lessons. The wooden blocks and legos will be used for fine motor, social-emotional and problem solving skills. The wireless doorbell will be used as a classroom management tool to notify students of various things like, switching stations, times up, my turn to talk, etc.
