My students need supplies to create a permanent Lego Wall in our primary hallway. We are hoping to receive Building plates that can be mounted on the inside hallway and Lego blocks to build & create.
The students of our school AMAZE ME on a daily basis. EXCITEMENT and ENGAGEMENT while learning are my top goals as a kindergarten teacher. Keeping students excited about learning, and engaged in lessons starting in kindergarten, is key to a successful educational experience.
The 25 kindergarten students in my class attend an all day kindergarten session at CDSA.
This particular project will benefit students of our school in all grades, with a primary focus on those Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
CDSA is located in Boise, Idaho. We are an Arts Magnet School located within the West Ada School District. This year we have expanded and are currently servicing a little bit over 550 students grades K-6. Our school is located in an urban Idaho district that services a diverse population of students. The students of our school come from a variety of economic backgrounds & situations, and are able to attend this public school of choice, for an opportunity to focus on the arts.
My Project
The creation of our Build & Create Lego Wall is to develop a Makerspace in our primary grades hallway. This area will help foster a hands-on & DIY learning environment. Students will have the opportunity to interact with this area to interact in meaningful ways.
Students and teachers will use this area to complete cross-curriculum learning opportunities.
There are many learning activities that involve building with Lego pieces. Building words, Creating art work, multiplication, measurement, geometry, and even literature can be explored on a Lego wall. The possibilities are endless.
With the addition of a this wall in our hallway we will have the opportunity to promote interactive and cultural learning opportunities to the students of our school.
