I teach enrichment for gifted students for a Title I K-6 school. I get to see my students one time a day for 30-45 minutes each. My goal is to create a learning environment that is engaging; because of this, I have decided to turn my room into a Makerspace. The issue is that my new school does not have enrichment technology that supports hands-on experience with computer science, engineering, and mathematics. My goal is to start this process of creative learning.
My Project
Makedo inspires and enhances learning because it is highly engaging and super exciting to use. Makedo can span all learning areas and aligns perfectly with STEAM curriculum. Makedo is great for independent learning and collaborative projects and develops problem-solving skills. Laser cutting is a process that utilizes a different way of thinking that is important for students to develop.
I teach many different age groups so it is important to differentiate.
Students in 2-4 will mainly work with Makedo as their medium to support hands-on learning. Grades 5-6 will focus on laser cuttings. Through this donation, students will engage in their learning as a student-driven project vs teacher-led projects.
