This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from a very low economic area. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite their situation, they are a high spirited and engaging group of young boys and girls. Their enthusiasm to learn is heartwarming.
My students face many challenges in their lives and continue to surprise me with their strength and kindness.
My goal this year is to inspire our children to do their best regardless of the circumstances they find themselves in. I want to show them that they are surrounded by loving and caring teachers to help guide them throughout their journey within our school.
My Project
The students I teach are often from families that either has dropped out of school or don't value the importance of education. Their teach becomes an important part of their education.
Inspiring reading while sending a positive message will give students that extra boost they might need.
I hope to give my first-grade students the book, The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss. I want this book to serve two purposes to inspire them to read and to serve as a motivation. The goal is to have students give this book to every teacher they encounter so they can write an inspiring message. Hopefully, through the years they can look back and be encouraged by the people that influenced them throughout their educational career.
