My school campus sits in a working-class neighborhood where parents and families are striving to give their children a better education. They work hard to give their students the opportunities and skills needed to pursue a college education. My students hail from all over the world, from Mexico to the Middle East, making our campus both ethnically and socioeconomically diverse. This makes my job more challenging and rewarding as I strive to teach students who not only have different cultural backgrounds but come to kindergarten at vastly different academic levels.
I hope to give my kindergarten students a strong educational foundation as well as the grace, humility, and compassion to achieve their dreams.
My Project
The community builders LEGO set will help students engage in a fun-filled LEGO engineering building unit. Students will work together in small groups to design a building in a town, and then build it. They will use English Language Arts skills to write about their building and how it is part of the community our class has created.
Students will engage in cross-curricular lessons each day as they work with the LEGO sets to learn about the principals of engineering and design while learning what it means to be part of a community.
You're donation is the missing piece. Can you help us build a better future with LEGOs?
