Help me give my students the resources they need to study science by having hands-on activities to explore and interact with their world!

My scholars enter our inclusive classroom every morning ready and eager to learn. Students come from a high transient area with a high rate of poverty as well as a strong military presence. As of this year, 100% of our students will receive free breakfast/lunch, a welcomed and much appreciated opportunity for our young students.
We are a Title I, Leader in Me, and PBIS school, where we focus on the 7 Habits, which promote leadership values and experiences for our students.
We are also fortunate enough to be a technology anchor school, where we have a 1:1 ratio with Chromebooks.
We believe in teaching our students more than just curriculum. We teach students how to be respectful, responsible, and safe leaders as well as contributing citizens to our community. We host both a Young Ladies of Excellence Club as well as a Distinguished Young Gentleman's Club, which provides students with role models in our community.
We are exploring the wonderful world of science in first grade! Our curriculum integrates science with language arts, but we are going a step further! My students will have a science station as one of their daily rotations during reading stations.
Although young, my students have inquisitive minds that are ready to explore and discover the many topics science has!
The Microscope will be a main focal point of our science station. The students will be able to closely look at various artifacts and learn facts about them as well. In addition to the microscope, the magnifying glasses will come in handy for the bug collection. First graders always get so excited about bugs and these are going to be a great addition to their learning!
Last year, we were lucky enough for a robin to make her nest outside our classroom window. We were able to watch her bring sticks and grass to build her nest as well as fly around! The bird feeder will be attached to our window to hopefully draw more birds to our courtyard!
We can't wait to begin digging deeper into science and developing their young minds to question and explore their curiosities!
