I currently teach fourth grade for the Boston Public Schools. While our school is nestled in the heart of the North End, students come to us from many different parts of the city.
I feel so incredibly lucky every day to teach the most ambitious learners in Boston.
My students come in every day eager to learn, full of questions, and excited to seek out learning opportunities wherever they can.
Our class' focus word for this year is persevere. My fourth graders persevere through challenges every single day inside and outside of the classroom. They do this while always remaining positive and having a growth mindset.
My Project
These materials will allow for students in my classroom to have multiple copies of high interest fourth grade texts! These texts will help my students to engage in peer book clubs, allowing for them to take responsibility for they learning and have thoughtful conversations about their reading!
Participating in student led book clubs is a must for reluctant readers!
These opportunities allow for readers to take ownership for their reading and hold one another accountable for their learning! Students who participate in book clubs are engaged in their reading and excited to talk about their books with their classmates. Book clubs also help to foster a sense of community in the classroom, allowing for students to engage with all learners!
