Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of compassionate, motivated, learners who persevere and strive for greatness every single day. In our classroom, they are reminded that they are leaders and that they hold the future in their hands. My students love to read and act as leaders for our entire school community. The majority of students come from low-income households and do not have much but care so much about giving to others. Despite their hardships, they come to school every day excited to learn and grow. They are truly inspiring.

My Project

My students came up with the idea of a school "buddy bench" when we were discussing the importance of being kind and respectful to everyone. Their goal is to help every student in our school feel included and accepted. They would like to decorate the bench together as a class and then go to the different classes in our school and explain to the other students how to use the buddy bench. We will place the bench on our recess area so that any student, no matter what grade, can sit on it when they need someone to play with. My students would like to encourage friendship and acceptance among our school community.
