Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach PreK-8th Grade Library at a Dual Language Title I culturally and linguistically diverse urban elementary school. My students come from diverse backgrounds and speak several languages including Spanish, Arabic, Gujarati, Hindi, Chinese and Tagalog.
My students are kind, gentle, highly intelligent, and humble; every day they come to school eager to learn new educational experiences.
Our school community is 94% low income. Based on our school's CARES Philosophy our students daily demonstrate Citizenship, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.
My Project
All of our students would like to do exceptional research projects for their school work. However, many of them lack a computer at home or the ability to print their work outside of the school. We have a research center of nine desktop computers in our school library, but we don't have a working printer, toner, and paper to print on.
These materials will enable my students to do their academic research in the library and print their work.
Students will be learning how to use various online and print resources to conduct theme-based research for history and science fairs.
