Bucks for Book Bags!

My students need durable bags that can travel between home and school. With a class set of these, my students will have the opportunity to read at home, and our treasured classroom books will remain intact!

My Students

My students are fun, energetic, and hard working! I teach a group of diverse students in Title 1 school of about 350 students.

As of next year, our school will be 100% free or reduced lunch.

Many of my students are currently reading below grade level. Although they have developed a love for reading and reaching goals, they need as much extra practice as possible to reach grade level proficiency or beyond by the end of the year. My students' parents want to help, but often do not know how, or cannot afford to buy books for their child. For some, my classroom library serves as their only reading time!

My Project

Research shows that students who read at least 20 minutes a day at home, will grow in all areas, including vocabulary, language development, and making connections between written and spoken word.

My students need durable take home book bags to carry books to and from home so they can practice reading each night.

My students are currently using Ziploc bags that often break, causing books to rip or get lost in the route back to school. You can help make it possible for my second grade scholars to raise their reading levels, increase family involvement and help develop their love for learning!
