My students are sweet, hard-working, and eager to please. They have varying levels of functional reading, but every one of them wants to succeed and reading is key for success in life!
Our school is high-poverty, but we do not let that get in our way of keeping expectations very high.
We aim to allow our students access to educational opportunities that will help them better understand the world around them, and we encourage them to fully engage in service to our community to help foster self confidence, pride, and compassion.
These books will help my students have more choices when we have SSR time and time for individual oral reading. My students range from primer level to 4th grade level and we do not currently have sufficient reading materials to cover all of the functional levels nor their varying interests. We could benefit from expanding our class library and having fresh, new books will inspire my students to pick up new books and give them a try! There will be new information to learn, new stories to follow, and new vocabulary to acquire as we crack new spines and see what each book beholds.
