My students are amazing and resilient. Many are immigrants or from immigrant families. Many are affected by being homeless and neighborhood violence but come to school every day ready to learn.
In a neighborhood where violence is an everyday part of life, school becomes so much more than just a place to learn.
The students in my classroom recognize the value of an education as a means to a positive future and hopefully, someday a safer community, as well.
Our students are English Language Learners in an urban neighborhood. School is their safe haven and a place where they can focus on a positive future. They are eager to learn and take pride in the investment of others in their education.
Hands on learning is our favorite! This kit will allow our students to explore bubbles and how they behave. They will engineer their own bubble wands. We will then use what we’ve learned to create the ultimate bubble experience. Students will then share their knowledge and creations. We will plan a bubble bonanza to share with other grade levels. We will share these wands with younger grades for their end of the year field day. We are hoping to maybe even replicate our STEM experience for a family night to include not just all the students but their families as well!
