My students need field trip money to go to the Brooklyn Robot Foundry!

Come September our First Grade ICT class will be full of 25 high energetic and active learners. Our classroom has a diverse population, with a number of English Language Learners, students with Special Needs and students who function on grade level.
Each day our students come to class eager to learn with huge smiles on their faces, despite all the obstacles and challenges they faced the night before.
They take pride in their learning, our classroom and our school.
Our students learn best through hands-on activities and real life experiences. Our school only allows a small amount of funding for classroom supplies and trips. It's never enough to cover the needs for our students in the classroom.
Our first grade science curriculum focuses heavily on the engineering process. With the increasing amount of STEM jobs here in the US, we would like STEM education to be a priority in our first grade classroom. Our students have a natural interest and curiosity in exploring how things work. They love hands-on and interactive STEM activities and going to the Brooklyn Robot Foundry would be beneficial to our curriculum.
We must remember that our students are our future leaders and one day the earth will be in their hands.
The Brooklyn Robot Foundry is a place in Brooklyn where students get to build robots! The students will be introduced to the basic engineering concepts of circuitry and vibration. They will get to design, build, experiment, test and improve vibrating robots of their own!
We want to make STEM experiential, fun and engaging for our students! We don’t want our students just learning from a book or a lecture. Scientists and engineers get to do some pretty interesting things. They challenge their brains to solve problems and develop hands-on projects to make new discoveries. They can change the world within the four walls of their labs. We want to give our students the chance to do so too and truly believe this trip will instill a lifelong love for science.
