Mrs. Aly-Rothbloom from Brooklyn NY is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students an amazing robot building experience! The take-aways from this trip will be: a deeper understanding of how circuits and vibration work, inspiration for future building, and a vibrating robot!

I teach in a first grade ICT class in a public school. My students are the most unique group of 6 and 7 year olds I've ever met! They're creative, they're funny, they're witty, they're sassy, they're awesome dancers, they're loving, and above all they're bright. Sometimes they say things so witty that you can forget you're speaking to a 7 year old. My students love my coteacher and me so unconditionally, it’s as if we're all a big family- which I feel we are! We start our days by greeting each other in many different languages of the world. They love this part of our day because it makes our individual differences special.
Our greatest strength is that we are all participating citizens of our classroom and school community.
I love that my students are learning to work together and play games that further their understanding of difficult content areas. This always puts a smile on my face. There is nothing I love more, however, than seeing my struggling students gain confidence and answer questions across subject areas. This really makes me feel so fulfilled as a teacher.
This trip is designed to introduce students to the basic engineering concepts of circuitry and vibration. We are a STEAM school so this goes in line with our curriculum. During this trip, students will learn about circuits and view a demonstration on vibration. Then, the students will get to work on building, designing, and experimenting with vibrating robots of their own!
Students will leave with an understanding of and hands-on practice with core curriculum standards regarding circuits, electricity, friction and machines.
My students will also get to go home with their own robot. They will absolutely love being first grade engineers!
