Help me give my students A Traeger Smoker along with some Brisket seasonings, Traeger pellets, BBQ gloves, grill degreaser, bucket liners, butcher paper and a meat thermometer
The students at my school have so little and I want to give them so much more. All of the students here come from homes below the poverty line, and I want them to have the chance to experience something that can influence their lives.
Our students have so very little and with this donation, this will allow them to be able to compete with students of a different demographic.
Our kids are so special that even without the resources, they still work just as hard or harder to try and rise to the occasion. I love the fact that our kids already know the odds are stacked against them, but they face adversity head-on!
My Project
Once school resumes we will be forming an after school Barbeque Club in which the students will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare and cook various meats. The student will have a full on learning experience of what it is like to cook and smoke food that is not traditionally made in New York City.
The students will be provided the opportunity to learn how to prepare meats, season and smoke them on a pellet grill for the school community.
The hope for this project is for students to take an active interest in the culinary field along with being able to enjoy some of the food they make with the entire school.
The students often see the various cooking shows on TV and this is one of the projects that the would certainly love to try. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to take on a new challenge that really is not mainstream for the Bronx, New York
