Bringing XC Back at Woody High

Help me give my students the appropriate shoes to run cross country races. currently they do not have spikes for these muddy, tough terrain courses and we do not have a booster club.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am specifically speaking about my cross country team I coach. I love that they find the joy in everything. They are not there to be number one. They show up because they love it and have hearts of gold. They have a very special bond with each other too and know the true value of sportsmanship. Also, they still give me 100% even without the correct equipment. They deserve to know they are cared for and are important individuals.

My Project

This will make a difference in my athletes/students performance. Currently they are all running in basketball, cross training or other non running shoes and not only are they starting to suffer some minor injuries from that but also they are not achieving their full potential as their times are suffering! This will give them an opportunity to compete fairly with the other runners that have the appropriate spikes. I also feel this will give them the confidence they need to compete with other teams in our section. They sometimes get down on themselves and ask me daily about new shoes.
