My students are resilient musicians. In the past, we have been learning in a space that did not truly meet their needs, yet they always rose above and produced exceptional work. Now that we have the proper space to learn and explore music, my students continue to flourish musically. School tends to be the one place that many of my students feel loved and taken care of and I strive to keep that alive in my classroom. Music is a time in their day they can think abstractly and learn a lifelong skill.
Our Drama Club has successfully produced musicals for the past 17 years. Over time our equipment either wears out or becomes obsolete. We are so fortunate that our group has expanded to 4th and 5th graders, serving upwards of 75 students in each production, but it does mean we need more equipment to serve this number.
Some musicals require more than the current amount of microphones we have and that limits our choice of what to produce.
Our actors work so hard on stage to deliver their lines and solo songs and two more microphones will give them the ability to be heard clearly in their normal healthy speaking and singing voices.
