This is my first year at a new school, and I will be teaching a large group of fifth graders. I love fifth graders because they are becoming much more aware of the world around them. They are beginning to want more independence, but they are still looking for someone to guide them.
I'm so excited to teach this group of students; teaching brings me a fulfillment and joy that almost nothing else does.
Thank you for your support in making a difference in children's lives so the world can be a better place!
Many of my students haven't left our state. As 5th graders, many of them have lived in the same area for their entire lives and have experienced little diversity.
I want to bring the world to them through carefully selected literature about people from all around the world.
My hope is that then they will build empathy and have a deeper understanding of the world around them. The experiences they will read about will help them to understand how to face challenges, how to be resilient through them, and how to make a difference. I am very excited to introduce these books to my class!
