Do you remember what it was like coming into middle school? New teachers, new friends, new material to learn! I want my 6th grade special education students to feel welcomed and ready for middle school by giving them alternate level material that will engage them and allow them to learn!
My students are coming into 6th grade and have multiple disabilities.
They read at a 2-4th grade level in regards to comprehension. I think that the Social Studies World Cultures Curriculum will benefit them but they need support in order to access it.
My Project
With the materials provided my students will be able to learn about the different cultures of the world. The materials I've requested include alternate level books, globes that will help my kinesthetic learners, and books with visuals that will engage the students. This will change their lives for the better because they will now become knowledgeable about the world we live in! This will permit them to go forward in the world understanding and being accepting of the various cultures.
This project will have a huge impact on my students!
They live in a sheltered area with not much knowledge of other countries around us. By teaching them and immersing them in these materials, they will be learn about our world.
