The CSS cheerleading team is composed of talented, dedicated, intelligent, and diverse students who travel from all over the New York City Metropolitan area to attend. Our school is a select STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) school in partnership with Columbia University. We are the only select STEM school that represents the true diverse margins of New York City.
Our varsity team is going into its fifth year this coming fall and has had huge success both in school and outside.
In our first and second years, we competed and won several competitions and performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. In our second year, we expanded the program and added a junior varsity team due to high demand. Both teams have not only represented the school at games but also have a tradition of performing and holding community events. For two years, the teams performed at the Harlem Shamrock Festival, a 5K run for charity. The junior varsity students also performed and held a clinic for younger students to give them the opportunity and access to cheerleading.
The enthusiasm our team has not only for their school but also their community enjoys sharing their tradition of staying fierce.
My Project
The CSS Cheerleaders and Dance Team would like to participate in the 1st ever P.S 307 Brooklyn Diamonds “Spread Love it’s the Brooklyn Way”1st Annual Cheer & Dance Competition.
Both our cheerleading and dance teams have worked hard to learn and develop our skills in order to represent our school around the New York City Area!
By participating in this competition, our teams will get to exhibit their dancing, stunting, and tumbling skills that we have spent several years developing!
Our cheer team would like to defend their title as being champions. We also want to use this as a continued learning experience as performing teaches many lessons around self-confidence, memory, etc.
Our dance team will be participating in its first ever competition! We are so excited for them to be able to showcase all their hard work and see them start a new tradition!
Exams and homework don't get to show these physical talents; therefore by participating in this competition, both teams can exhibit their artistry not seen in the classroom. In addition, by partaking in this event, each team member will be able to help develop their individual resume and future opportunities for college if they choose to go on in these sports.
