Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A typical day in history involves having students step into the shoes of a historian or a geographer. Some of my students are having difficulty understanding where we are in the world and why it is important to gain this understanding.
Our school culture is very positive and celebrates diversity.
My students are all from a low income area. They are all eager learners when it comes to history. My students all want to get their hands on materials to learn more and always have wonderful questions to ask in regards to history and the past civilizations.
My Project
Students will use these resources as hands on materials to locate the places they are studying. The text that is being requested will serve for students to have materials, besides their textbooks, to refer to for projects and assignments. The maps and globes will be accessible for students to use throughout class as needed.
This project will make a difference by offering students a variety of materials, not just their textbooks.
It will bring history to life for many students and reinforce the idea that studying the past and knowing where things happened in the world is crucial to understanding our present day society.
