Bringing the Joy of Pickleball to My Elementary PE Program

My Project

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country and for good reason. It is a fast-paced, fun, inclusive game, that anyone can play. And I want to introduce this good energy game into my elementary Physical Education program.

Pickleball is a naturally inclusive sport requiring no specific skills or talents allowing everyone to feel included and empowered on the court.

Along with obvious health benefits, pickleball, encourages social, emotional, and critical thinking skills, making it a fantastic addition to my PE curriculum.

Pickleball is a great activity for students because it is played on a small court with lightweight, easy-to-maneuver paddles. The game relies on strategic thinking and gives students a fun way to develop hand-eye coordination, an important skill for many tasks in life and at school.

Many of my students do not have access to out-of-school sports programs and I want my PE programs to offer alternative and fun activity options.
