The students in my 5th grade classroom are incredibly curious about the world around them. This curiosity goes beyond the books in our classroom, and it often leads to elaborate discussions of topics they encounter. Their excitement for knowledge transfers to their school work as well as their respect for one another. Just one shining example occurred last week during a discussion of The Silk Road in the 1400's It led to an intelligent comparison to the present day information highway
I want them to be able to soar with their curiosity.
Their independence in learning is important as they will one day be in charge. I am one teacher per 28 students. With the right tools, we will achieve greatness. I love teaching these students, and I learn just as much from them as they do from me.
My Project
Any classroom is a physical space for students to learn about the world. In each situation, the walls can limit the learning. The 20 Kindle Fires I have requested will help break through those walls. My Social Studies class is not limited to the textbook we have. The students research explorers, dress up as colonists and discuss the causes and effects of The American Revolution. In order to do this, we need to expand our resources. For my class, the tool for expansion is the Kindle Fires.
An intrinsic goal of mine is to include current social studies topics.
Once again the physical space of my classroom has to be expanded in order to successfully do this. I know that the Kindle Fires will do this for my students.
