A typical day in my classroom consists of helping students to master skills that they are struggling with and helping them to improve their understanding as well as their grades.
Self-confidence and knowledge is a powerful tool.
I want my students to be able to build self-confidence and learn technology skills all while starring in our school's TV News Show. With our student body consisting of students from all walks of life, I believe this media tool could stimulate their interest in local and global current affairs.
My Project
Our TV News Show needs a soundboard for the students to use to make our broadcast more professional. We also need 9 volt batteries for our existing microphones as well as a green screen backdrop. Our middle school was recently split into two middle schools and we no longer have all the equipment necessary for our newscast production. The students will use these materials on a daily basis to help produce a professional looking newscast. We really strive to make our studio environment as professional as possible and the addition of a soundboard, green screen, and batteries would mean so much to our students.
I feel that students being able to have the opportunity to actually be a part of a news broadcast helps introduce them to different career paths as well as all the work that goes into just one show.
I believe this helps them learn responsibility as well as an appreciation for what others do on a daily basis in a work environment. It is so special to see a student get so excited over something they helped create and how professional they were able to make it look!
