Each morning I am greeted with smiling faces, eager for our day to begin. I hear, "Mrs. Stern, What are we gonna learn about today?" or "Mrs. Stern did you see that video or article about.... ?" (a current science/social studies topic we have been learning about). I teach at a multi-cultural school where technology integration is encouraged, but not every student has access to it daily. Our technology resources are limited: they are pulled from our classrooms to be utilized for testing and other needs.
My students are very tech savvy and eager learners, but some of them don't have the luxury of having their own devices.
These Chromebooks are a necessity in my classroom. We use them for daily technology centers and research. We will utilize them for our upcoming studies about the colonization of America in Social Studies and our environment and the effects we have on it, with an emphasis on pollution, in Science. My students will be working on STEM projects throughout these two subjects. They will be learning how to use Google and all of the components that go along with it to create a product to share with others and our community.
My Project
Pollution! Pollution! Learn All About It!
My students need an HP Chromebook to help them with STEM projects in the classroom.
We have a total of seven laptops for a class of 26 third graders and we are growing, adding another will help us tremendously! We are currently working on projects about pollution and how we as humans can help! We will use this Chromebook to help us see and learn the effects of pollution on animal habits in our state. Students will be creating Google Presentations and FlipGrid PSA's as part of their reflection and culminating activity. This Chromebook will help my students be able to work in smaller researcher groups to complete their assignments more efficiently.
