Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse and deserving bunch. Students come from hard working and busy families. These students love coming to school and learning!
They love being challenged, being successful, and being cheered on.
School is a place that they come to learn, but to also feel safe. These students learn to respect and trust one another. They enjoy being part of a classroom that has a positive environment and community. Poverty is high in this community, but it does not deter their determination.
My Project
This year, we will begin an afterschool Computer Science club. We need an iPad and a Dash and Dot robot kit to begin our adventure into the technology world. We will become more familiar with computers and we hope to have the materials to maneuver a new Dash and Dot robot!
Technology is a growing part of our world and we want our children to have better access to computer science.
STEM related degrees and jobs are the most sought out, yet women and minorities are severely underrepresented. I want to give my students the early exposure and love to technology that they deserve.
