My students are diagnosed on the autism spectrum. The students I teach are in a special education class. The students have unique needs and struggle daily with significant communication and learning needs. They work every day on their life skills, daily living skills, communication and academics,
Since leaving school in March, it has been extremely difficult for my students to engage in learning.
My students are all currently at home and most do not go outside due this crisis. Since they are isolated at home my students engage in online tasks for academic instruction which includes Google Classroom, on-line learning sites and watching videos. My students attend school for 12 months due to their disability and with schools most likely closed into the fall, my students will be doing this for July and August, too.
My Project
Please help me give my students learning materials for home and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are not able to leave their homes due to the quarantine in Brooklyn, New York. My student needs a variety of hands-on learning materials and sensory toys.
We have been successful in supporting families with technology and learning needs.
The biggest needs now are supplies for learning: whiteboards, crayons and something fun for those well deserved and needed breaks.
These materials will be shipped directly to my student's home for him to use during remote learning. My student are doing well with online tasks however, he really need sensory breaks and fun activities for home.
