A typical day in my classroom is busy! My classroom has 20 students that are very active and love to learn. My students love to work on activities where they can explore and use their problem-solving skills to learn!
My students come from a variety of backgrounds.
They are very active and have a love for learning. Our school has a high poverty rate, and many children work very hard to succeed in the educational setting. They love to be given a challenge and work towards finding the answer. Offering them something besides a traditional method of gaining knowledge would greatly enhance how today's child stays engaged in an activity. My students definitely enjoy having a variety of choices for their learning and love to show their enthusiasm for learning in creative ways.
My Project
Students will be using the leveled guided reading books in the classroom to strengthen their reading skills and strategies. The students will work together with the teacher and peers to strengthen their skills. The books are based upon current titles and topics that the students are interested in and they are written at their reading level so that the students don't struggle with comprehension. I find that most students begin to excel in learning how to fully comprehend their reading when used in this way. The students will also benefit from hands on math tile manipulatives and desk references to help them with their learning.
In the school - our goal is to fully engage the students with meaningful learning and be able to apply it to a real world setting.
A variety of reading at their instructional level is the perfect resource to make this happen! Students would be able to continue their learning with a book that they enjoy and it would allow them to grow in their education.
