My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income school district affected by Hurricane Harvey. My students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom and the hurricane has only elevated the difficulties they face. 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at my Title I school in Port Arthur, Texas.

Even though many of my students are displaced, they are coming to school with excitement and an eagerness for learning.

I want to provide my students with positive and exciting learning experiences that help them learn and grow while they are with me. Though I cannot control their experiences at home, I can control what happens in my classroom and with your help I can make sure they participate in interesting and compelling learning experiences!

My Project

The supplies that I am requesting for this project will be used to start up the very first STEM Club at our school! The students crave for more hands on learning experiences that require them to use critical thinking and exploration and these materials will provide just that!

Bringing a STEM Club to my elementary school will not only excite my students but it will also give them a learning experience like no other they have had before.

We will be using resources like wax paper, paper clips, modeling clay, and more to incorporate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into exciting and NEW learning activities to challenge students thinking skills!
