Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of ideas, energy, and potential. I've taught many of these same students when they were in elementary school and have witnessed their creative problem solving and zest for life time and time again. They are adaptive and curious and looking forward to their futures in a way that makes me want to rise up and give them the tools they don't even know they lack.
Many of my students will be first generation college students and will need extra support to walk that path.
They have the energy, the drive, and the creativity to be successful in whichever life they choose- so let's knock down some of the hurdles to get them on their way!
My Project
This Apple iPad will allow students to take their artwork outside of the classroom and onto digital platforms. They will be using it to document and turn in both 2-D and 3-D assignments, organize a digital portfolio, and create works of art using the Apple Pencil in apps designed for digital illustration.
As student's utilize the iPad and pencil, they will begin to see that what they learn in the art room can reach far beyond it's walls.
Some might even start to believe that they could have a successful career in the arts. The worlds of Graphic Design, Typography, Digital Illustration will all be available to them starting in high school! With this experience, they will definitely have a leg up!
