My Students

Within our room are capable, creative, humorous, inquisitive learners. While we come from diverse backgrounds, in our classroom we are simply family. This is our second year together as a class, therefore, our bond is rather deep.

Our class loves to create.

Students enjoy working with hands-on materials to make what we are learning about come to life.

Our class loves to collaborate. Students look forward to working together through the process of a project, problem solving, or any sort of activity.

Our class love to question. Students are energized from asking questions. Fierce wonderings drive our learning.

My Project

Our classroom is deep into a study of outer space. Our school is Reggio inspired, meaning the students wonderings are placed at the center of the learning. This semester, in particular, my class has shown great interest in not only space, but the International Space Station.

They are asking questions such as...

-What is life like in space?

-How was the ISS built in space?

-What does it take to create a space station?

-Who inhabits the station now?

-What is the journey an astronaut takes?

-Is there an edge to space?

-What all is out there?

-What is the role we play?

These materials would act as a supplement to my students fierce wonderings. Together, we hope to use the notebooks as logbooks of all of our thinking. The books will help our inquiry and allow us to fill our room with as much "space" things as possible. And finally, the LEGO models are something that would bring what we are studying to life. My students hope to eventually create their own model of the ISS with our own materials, but first it will be crucial to understand all of the pieces that go into the structure before we build our own.

Thank you for your consideration in supporting my students excitement about space!
