Bringing our Rock Star Ukulele All-Stars to the Stage!
My students need one more set of ukuleles to bring our Rock Star Ukulele "All-Stars" to the stage! One more set would enable an entire classroom to play ukuleles at the same time, for performances.
I teach music education in an inner-city school corporation where there are many challenges. Because our corporation is millions of dollars in debt, the state board has given a state-appointed manager full control of the school system. Although my students have some unique challenges, I absolutely love my job and feel that I can make a difference where I am, especially through music! I have almost 360 K-5th grade students that I see once or twice a week in my music classes. They are amazing individuals that inspire me to be a better teacher and want to come to school every day. Teaching these little humans is a mind-boggling process and I often learn the most when teaching my students! I have been often reminded that the students that I most try to inspire are the ones inspiring me!
My students are unique individuals that are energetic, caring, compassionate, curious; have a need to be loved and a desire for fun!
Our students love coming to music class and I know that music can change the climate of a school, corporation, community, state and our world! Our ukulele rock stars are ready to be born! Thanks for your help!
My Project
For years, we have known about the joy of listening to and making music, but only recently have we clearly understood the lifelong benefits of music education for every student. Music unlocks the creative potential of the human mind; it opens the pathway to educational excellence and catapults human thinking to a new level of understanding. Quality in music learning transfers to quality in all learning. Numbers studies confirm a consistent correlation between substantive music education and student achievement in other academic subjects, not to mention the musical skills gained through music instruction.
Music is a source of possibilities; it opens new horizons; it supports imagination, appreciateion, and sensitivity; it adds a new dimension to life.
Students who play musical instruments: demonstrate increased creativity; learn patience; build confidence; develop discipline; improve memory; relieve stress; have fun! This is why our students could greatly benefit from a full classroom set of ukuleles and we thank you!
