Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of my students have a curious mind and a dedication to their learning. But I also have students that come from various backgrounds. Several of my students are English learners or recently reclassified English learners. I have gifted students as well as students with learning disabilities. Other students are English-only speakers. Several of my students have not had the same experiences and opportunities as others, which puts them at a disadvantage.
By giving them the necessary tools like technology, art supplies, reading books, and other school supplies, I am giving all of my students a great start to a successful future.
Even though my students come from various backgrounds, there's one thing that makes them the same. They love learning, especially when they get to learn in creative ways.
My Project
My students learn best when they are allowed to be creative. What better way to show their creativity than through art! My students' faces light up when I tell them "its time for art". They clear their desks and you can hear a pin drop. Unfortunately, all I am able to supply them with are crayons, but even with just crayons they are able to create magic.
Having the use of these watercolor pencils will help bring their imagination to life.
During the year, I have several art lessons planned; self-portraits, art diaries, and mandalas. I also plan to use these watercolor pencils across subjects like math, science, and reading. Students often read and write a paragraph, but I want my students to read and create visual story boards.
