Our computer lab serves 650 students. Due to budgetary constraints, it is pretty run down. We have headphones that are disintegrating onto the students' ears, germy keyboards, and very limited technology in general.
My students are amazing.
I am a lucky teacher who inspires, hopefully, as much as they inspired me. I teach computer technology but am also starting a gardening club and have started an after-school club for coding now because my previous students enjoyed it so much. It makes me very hopeful for the future that I have such technologically adept and eager students. My school is predominantly ELLs.
My Project
My students will use the materials provided in order to learn new ways to incorporate technology into their worlds. Some of the other items include cleaning supplies for both students and equipment and incentives for the younger students. A fifth grade class conducted an experiment to find the dirtiest place in the school and the lab's keyboards earned 2nd place which was even dirtier than the bathrooms. I am requesting headphones, supplies to improve the cleanliness and aesthetics of the lab, and other technical equipment to help students learn about technology. The ink and paper will be used to display their work.
Your generous donations will help make the computer lab a cleaner, more enriched and happier environment in which to learn skills that include coding, blogging, word processing and typing.
Hopefully, next year it will be one of the cleanest places in the school rather than one of the dirtiest!
