Bringing My Students Nearer to What's Far Away With Nearpod
Help me give my students a NearPod Platinum subscription so they can learn about music and develop 21st century skills through engaging and interactive activities.
My students are the future and they're taking the world by storm. I teach 300 8th-12th grade students from all over the state of North Carolina. How is that possible? I teach through a virtual school! In my (virtual) classroom, I bring together students from all over in one place through the joy of music.
My students are innovative, creative, and curious; they're always looking for new ways to engage in the virtual environment, even if the world doesn't fully understand how virtual schools work yet.
My students come to this virtual school for all different reasons: to feel safer attending school from home, to have more flexibility in traveling for sports or the arts, to get more individual teacher support, and so much more.
Think music can't be done at a virtual school? You're not alone. But my students are out to prove the world wrong. Currently at my school, students can take 8th grade general music and high school music appreciation. My students and I even started a virtual band and a virtual choir last year. My students have big dreams for more music options at our school.
My Project
Teaching music at a virtual school is an exciting and challenging endeavor because not all activities translate easily from a brick and mortar setting. I am always looking for innovative new ways to engage my students. Nearpod is unique because it allows me to synchronize live lessons for all of my students even though they all live across the entire state of North Carolina. Since every student's lessons can be synced together, Nearpod brings us all a little closer together as a class. My students are completely engaged in Nearpod lessons because they are interactive and can be tailored to all different types of learners.
With Nearpod, my students will be able to take their learning to the next level in order to become better critical thinkers and 21st century learners.
Because I teach virtually, I can't easily take my students on a field trip. Through NearPod's virtual touring tool, my students will be able to travel around the world without ever leaving their homes. Their game based learning makes lessons fun and exciting. Nearpod even allows my students to collaborate with each other even though they are miles apart!
I believe all students deserve a high quality music education and that includes virtual students. Nearpod gives my students the opportunity to learn music in an innovative and unique way. Nearpod will bring my students a little closer together while also letting them explore far beyond the four walls of their own home.
