My students need supplies like candy, pom poms, washi tape, paper and pens to do hands-on activities to incorporate Science and Math into our Math class.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school, and almost seventy percent receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. They attend a magnet school which requires most students to maintain a B average throughout the year. The students are part of Pre-Med, Engineering, Environmental Science, or Computer Technology programs.
Our students come from the diverse backgrounds of thirty different countries.
This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.
My Project
My students love doing hands on activities. The problem is to do most hands on activities and experiments we need outside supplies. Supplies like candy, can be used for distributive property and independent variable activities. The papers and markers will be used to document all the experiments by making posters and charts. We will also be doing building activities with the building set to incorporate area and volume hands on activities. The students will be able to take all the concrete math we learn in class and transfer that information to hands on activities. We will also be using the supplies to make our own math board games.
